Safety

This section provides information relating to your safety. Please contact Reception by dialing 800 should you have any concerns or questions.

In the Event of Fire

If a fire breaks out in your room or a fire alarm is activated:

  • Remain calm
  • If smoke is present stay low to the floor and exit the room. Touch the door, if it is hot, do NOT leave the room. Move to the balcony
  • Otherwise evacuate all room occupants immediately in an orderly fashion following emergency exit signs
  • Staff will direct you to the marshalling area outside the building. Follow directions so we can ensure all guests are accounted for
  • Do not return to the room for any reason (e.g. to collect clothes or valuables)
  • Keep as close to the floor as possible to minimise the inhalation of smoke

In the event of an Earthquake

  • Remain calm
  • Stay inside
  • Drop to the ground
  • Take cover by getting under a sturdy desk or table
  • Hold onto it until the shaking stops
  • Do not be alarmed if the fire alarm or sprinklers go off

Evacuation

  • Remain calm. Do not run down stairs or outdoors. Be prepared for aftershocks.
  • Do not light matches, cigarettes or turn on electrical switches. If possible, use a flashlight.
  • Protect hands and feet from broken glass and debris. Keep head and face protected (blanket, tablecloth)
  • Staff will direct you to the marshalling area outside the building. Walk slowly.

Your Fireplace

The fireplace in your apartment is fueled by denatured ethanol and burns with a naked flame. The following safety measures are provided to ensure risk-free use and operation of your fireplace.

Fuel Box

Do not tamper with the fuel box under the any circumstances. If your fire goes out for insufficient fuel please contact Reception.

Ignition

Under Japanese Fire Safety Regulations fires are only allowed to be ignited by members of the staff who have been trained in fire safety. Do not attempt to light the fireplace on your own.

Attempting to light the fireplace with a traditional lighter may result in serious burns.

Extinction

To extinguish the flame, completely shut the cylindrical fuel box with the "snuffer" provided.

General Fire Safety

  • Children must be kept away from the fire at all times
  • Even when not lit, the removable glass panel could be broken and may cause injury
  • Never leave the fire unattended, i.e. extinguished before sleep or leaving your apartment
  • Never attempt to dry your clothing or ski gear by the fire
  • Persons wearing synthetic clothes must keep at least two meters away from the fire
  • Persons wearing lose clothing (scarves, ties, etc.) must keep away from the fire

Snow Safety

Be aware of falling from the upper building especially in times of high snowfall. Look up when entering buildings.

Onsen Etiquette

The onsen is located on Level L, with segregated male and female changing and bathing areas. Slippers and robes are provided in your room, should you wish to remove your clothing before proceeding to the onsen.

Blue towels are provided in your room for visiting the onsen or pool. The larger blue towel is for drying and the smaller blue modesty towel is for onsen usage. Please note the modesty towel should never be placed inside the water.

Shoes or slippers are to be removed before entering the onsen area. Japanese etiquette requires one to be cleansed completely before entering the onsen. The bath is solely for relaxing. Washing should be carried out beforehand. We ask that guests observe this aspect of Japanese tradition.

Please remove jewelry as onsen minerals can discolor.

The temperature of the onsen is set at 42 degrees Celsius.

Onsen Health and Safety

In the interest of Health & Safety we advise guests to refrain from using the onsen in the following cases:

  • After consuming alcohol or immediately after eating
  • If taking medication or if pregnant
  • No food, alcohol or drinks should be consumed within the onsen premises
  • If prone to bouts of dizziness or nausea
  • If suffering from a medical condition that may be exacerbated by onsen use and high temperatures
  • Under no circumstances should children be allowed to use, or play near the onsen unaccompanied

An emergency phone is located in the change room of the Onsen. Please dial 800 for Reception should you feel any signs of dizziness.

Swimming Pool Safety

For the safety and enjoyment of all pool users, we ask that all guests read and comply with the following:

  • No diving
  • No running in or around the pool area
  • No food or beverages to be taken in to the pool area
  • Only appropriate swimwear should be worn in the pool area
  • No inflatable objects, balls, etc. are permitted in the pool area
  • The pool is not to be used in a state of intoxication
  • Behavior which other pool users may find offensive is not permitted

In addition, please be aware:

  • There is no lifeguard on duty Swimming is at your own risk
  • Children under the age of 12 MUST be supervised by an adult at all times
  • The pool has a uniform depth of 1.Sm - there is no shallow end
  • Place used towels in the basket under the vanity in the onsen change rooms
  • Please do not wear swimsuits in the lobby area
