Furano
Located on Japan’s northernmost island in an area known as the Bellybutton of Hokkaido, Furano is quickly becoming a must-see location for many snow and nature lovers who visit Hokkaido every year. Nestled in between the Tokachi mountain range and the Yuubari area, Furano has something special to offer to visitors year-round.
Asahidake
Located one hour from Furano, Asahikawa is the second largest city of Hokkaido, which is famous for its quaint personality, delicious ramen, and the Asahiyama Zoo. It is the perfect location for a day trip and boasts the nearest regional airport.
Asahidake Onsen
One hour from Furano, Asahidake Onsen is a small resort town located at the foot of Mt. Asahi, Hokkaido’s highest mountain in the Daisetsuzan Volcanic range, and serves as the main entrance to Daisetsuzan National Park. Famous for its iconic volcanic steam vents and alpine flowers, visiting Asahidake Onsen is the perfect way to explore Hokkaido’s stunning natural beauty. The Asahidake Ropeway features fantastic views in summer and provides access to backcountry skiing in the winter.
Summer
Thousands of visitors from around the world flock to Furano to view its famous flower fields in the and feast on its wide array of delicious local produce Furano has to offer. Furano is especially famous for vast fields of lavender, which peak in mid-July.
Guests can also enjoy exploring the area on a scenic drive to visit the Blue Lake in nearby Biei or visit some of Hokkaido’s finest onsen near Mt. Tokachi. For the more adventurous soul, the Sorachi river offers plenty of activities, including, white water rafting, canyoning, and kayaking. Daisetsuzan National Park, Japan’s largest national park is only a short drive away and offers incredible hiking for guests of all levels.

Winter
Benefiting from Siberian storms that pass over the Sea of Japan, Furano is perfectly situated to be a power-lover’s paradise. With an average snow fall of over 5 meters every year, Furano is home to Hokkaido’s second- largest ski resort. The Furano Ski Resort boasts over 160 hectares of lift access terrain and 839 m of vertical drop over 23 trails, so there is plenty of fun for all skill levels.
